More and more Im gaining interest in programming my own gauges for use with my simulator. From what I can tell there are good options out there that fall short in the area of customization.
Personally I feel there is a need for a software package that gives the cockpit builder a graphical interface to build networked gauges. So far I havent really seen any software outh there?
I am a non-programmer and would buy into such a software package. I also think an online repository associated with the software which contains user build gauges would be sweet, and could build a huge, useful libary which could cater to many cockpit builders.
Let me know what you think.

I have had several requests for custom gauges. Mostly regarding scales on the airspeed indicator of the GA gauges. You bring up an interesting point about a GUI that allows users to select the style they wish to use. I have been thinking about this for some time now and may have come up with a solution. It would be a graphical interface whereby the user can select the instrument face and see the instrument as it is built. There would have to be some basic restrictions on size of artwork and colors (to enable transparency).

Thats one tool that has been introduced, at opencockpits there is a software suite that will allow you to build your own gauges, BUT...it is not as intuitive as it can be. Im interested in seeing what you build, if its open ended and intuitive you could really carve out a niche in this growing market. I think you could even offer it up as payware, as long as the price is right.

I found a program that uses
I found a program that uses a graphic interface to develop openGL gauges, but it comes with a heafty price tag somewhere in the 10 large range
.
So it can be done but there isn't a cost effective alternative yet. Here is the link so you can check it out, pretty slick:
